Harvey Moon, "SlowScan", 2018

4m Video Art 2018

Harvey Moon b. 1988, Washington D.C.; lives in Los Angeles

SlowScan, 2018 Algorithmic HD color video with sound, 3 min., 45 sec. Courtesy of the Artist

Referencing slit-scan photography that emerged in the 1950s, Harvey Moon’s SlowScan plays with video’s relationship to time. Using a custom program, each frame of SlowScan is captured over a duration of 24 hours. The result is a video that renders only static elements, leaving the viewer to contemplate an eerie overseas voyage that progresses through space and time seemingly absent of human presence.
