Amir Aether Valen (b. 1995, Mt. Hope, Trinidad; lives in Chaguanas, Trinidad)

The Whisper of the Leaves is a contemplative journey of harmony between different forms of life that coexist on the earth. This film is a meditation on the effect of time, movement of the human spirit, and passage to new forms of life, through the eyes, ears, and bodies of three elderly land workers living in a small community in the outskirts of Bauta, Cuba.

From Trinidad and Tobago, Amir Aether Valen is a graduate of Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, where he specialized in documentary film direction. In his time there, he made over 15 short films, some of which have competed both locally and internationally at film festivals.

The Whisper of the Leaves es un viaje contemplativo de armonía entre diferentes formas de vida que coexisten en la Tierra. Esta película es una meditación sobre el efecto del tiempo, el movimiento del espíritu humano y el paso a nuevas formas de vida, a través de los ojos, los oídos y los cuerpos de tres ancianos trabajadores de la tierra que viven en una pequeña comunidad en las afueras de Bauta, Cuba.

Originario de Trinidad y Tobago, Amir es egresado de la Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV) en Cuba y del Directing Studio of Talents Guadalajara. Ha ganado múltiples premios en el Festival de Cine de Trinidad y Tobago, y sus cortometrajes se han proyectado internacionalmente en festivales como Sheffield DocFest, True/False y Third Horizon.
